The past has no power to effect your future, unless you give it the power to do so.

The past is in the past. It is over. And nothing that you say or do can ever change that. Since it is gone, why not let it go and start anew, right now? When we let go of the past we are, essentially, wiping the slate clean on our 'canvas on life'. We are then given the opportunity to paint a new, more beautiful work of art. When we bring the past into the present moment, we are limiting our possibilities for the future. We are literally looking at a canvas that is almost already finished, and saying to ourselves, "there is almost no more room to paint anything new on our canvas - I cant work with this!" And that is correct, you can never work with the past. You can only work with the present. So why not see and receive the gift that the present holds, by release the past and let it stay where it belongs? - behind you!
