The Late Yar’Adua was the first Nigerian leader who, as the governor of Kastina State in Nigeria, publicly declared his assets and set similar example of transparency and accountability in government when he became the elected president of the Nigerian nation. He did this partly to fulfill a pre-election promise he made to Nigerians, and to set a clear example for other Nigerian politicians in a bid to increase transparency and discourage corruption in the polity...The Late President will also be remembered for supporting the reform in the Nigerian banking sector and for starting the process of electoral reform – a process that has already produced three credible localized elections in Nigeria.
