Loreen Willenberg, a native Californian, currently resides in Sacramento. In 2007, Ms. Willenberg transitioned from her successful career as the sole proprietor of ‘The Earth Tenders Landscape Design/Build’ company (est 1985) to become an HIV/AIDS Treatment and Vaccine Research Advocate, and to continue her work for the HIV Controller community through the non-profit Zephyr L.T.N.P. Foundation, Inc., founded in 2006. Diagnosed with HIV in 1992, Ms. Willenberg is the retired Chairperson for the (now defunct) Ryan White Consortium, El Dorado/Alpine Counties. She served on the county Ryan White Steering Committee, and was active in the historical El Dorado AIDS Task Force and local support groups until those entities ceased to exist, in 1996. Ms. Willenberg is an internationally acclaimed advocate for the international HIV Controller and Long-Term Nonprogressor community, and is a committed proponent for the development of immune-based therapies, including a therapeutic vaccine for HIV. She continues to travel each year to donate blood, cell and tissue samples to thirteen clinical research studies, speaks publicly to raise awareness on HIV/AIDS issues in the struggle to stem the tide of the epidemic, and promotes the funding for and development of therapeutic vaccines for HIV.
