Joy J, (born Joy Johnson) is not your ordinary teenage girl. For one, her personality is unlike any other, her heart is as pure as gold, and her voice is well beyond her years. Like most little girls, Joy always carried around a hairbrush or hair roller in her hand, but she used it for more than just doing her hair; she used those items as microphones. She loved to sing for family, friends, and commanded an audience with poise. Her singing journey began in her hometown of Baton Rouge, Louisiana at the tender age of 4, when she sang her first solo at church. God’s anointing on her at that young age blew everyone away and there wasn't a doubt that she would go on to do great things for God's Kingdom. Fast forward to today, Joy is more focus than ever, and is ready to spread her gift to the world. She is a multitalented “Triple Threat”, adding dancing and acting to her anointing.

Under the musical guidance of her producer DeShawn “Big D” Hendrickson, they have developed a sound that is sure to catch your attention. Big D, and D’NAJE Entertainment fully endorses Joy J as its first gospel artist under the D'NAJE Gospel division.

Her Support system comes from her Christian home, where her father continues to teach her the principles of living a holy lifestyle before God. She credits her mother for being the one who gave her the inspiration to sing for the Lord, and to put him first in all things she does. Watching her mother sing gospel has groomed her as a gospel singer herself. Now because of her personal relationship with her savior, Jesus Christ, it has brought her mind-set to another level.
