On today's episode of PopHealth Week our guest is Scott Haas, Sr. Vice President of Integrated Healthcare Metrics at Wells Fargo Insurance Services USA, Inc.

We discuss innovation in the employee health benefits space and the vital role of primary care to advance the interests of the triple aim especially countering the legacy incentives of fee-for-service motivated specialists as agents of the 'heads in beds'model of most U.S. health systems - with some IDN exceptions embracing capitation of value based care models.

Scott earned a B.S. in business administration and economics from the University of Nebraska at Kearny. He holds Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Registered Health Underwriter (RHU) designations.

Scott has over 30 years of employee benefits experience developing and validating acute and chronic care management programs; prescription benefit management (PBM) solutions; provider network evaluation, valuation, and negotiation; and underwriting.

Scott started and operationalized a Third-Party-Administrator (TPA) and a PBM platform from scratch and has worked in the arena of alternative funding for the majority of his career.

He has held officer-level positions within Blues plans and TPAs as Vice President of Sales and Marketing; Vice President of Underwriting; and President.

Scott also served as trustee for both union and non-union health and welfare and pension plans and frequently shares his consulting expertise speaking at national events hosted by  the International Foundation of Employee Benefits; Health and Welfare Plan Management Conference; Western Pension and Benefits Council; and the Self-Insurance Institute of America.
