Born JoAnna Menzie…I am known in the poetic world as ‘Jodi’ no gimmicks or fancy themes around it. I define myself by simply representing the best “me” I can be. I value myself on honesty even if it seems brutal at times. I do not satisfy emotions with butterflies and lilies around the truth. I hate to apologize, so I try and check out every aspect before I put my foot in my mouth and if I am wrong, I apologize with sincerity. My poetry displays all the thoughts and emotions that run through me. I do not sit and think to pen, I pen the thoughts that sometimes haunt my sleepless nights or interrupt my showers or baths. I’ve been writing since middle school, which was a private school, so it was also high school. My first book published in Feb ’09, captures many experiences from those days. It was published in Iraq and sold over 120 in Iraq alone.
