Dating Outside Your Race

Regardless of our culture, our level of education or economic status, at the depth of all of us are the same desires- to love, to be loved, and to be happy. Love is something fundamentally important to us, so does it matter where or whom it comes from? As with material possessions or professional achievements, relationships give our ego a method by which to identify who we are to the outside world. The problem is that we attach so much of our identity to the external appearance of our relationships that we lose touch with the parts of ourselves that are wise and conscious.

So much of the discourse surrounding interracial relationships seems to center on black and white couplings. These are the images we see most in the media, white men with black women, or black men with white women.?
