PTR PODCAST Episode 5: Jerry Fahrni with Pharmacy Informatics and Technology

Mr. Fahrni has been a licensed pharmacist in California since 1997 after obtaining his Pharm.D. from the University of California, San Francisco. His pharmacy experience is almost exclusively hospital based totaling nine years of inpatient pharmacy, including a couple of years as a pediatric pharmacist and five years of critical care medicine. Mr. Fahrni has a special interest in technology coupled with pharmacy which creates a natural fit when he was offered the position of IT pharmacist at Kaweah Delta Hospital in Visalia, California. He works with IT professionals, physicians, and nurses on various projects including smart pumps, automated carousels, automated packagers, databases, pharmacy systems, bedside scanning, barcoding, Pyxis and Computerized Provider Order Entry (CPOE).
