As we all know that is the option for a selected group of college athletes playing basketball.  The focus is on the high profile young men.  These young men have been ranked as high prospects by national sports media as potential immediate pro in the NBA.  The NBA Draft of 2005 was the last draft class to except young men straight from high school (Martell Webster, Seattle Prep HS).  Since then the requirement has been 1 year following high school.  Now know that doesn’t necessarily translate to 1 year in college, but just as it has been stated, 1 year after high school.  To test that state one young man (Brandon Jennings) decided not to attend college for a year, but to go overseas immediately after high school.  He has since then completed his overseas tour and was drafted 10thoverall in the 2009 NBA Draft.

Parents what are your thoughts on this?  If it was your child would you be in support of this opportunity?  Does the immediate financial gain outweigh a solid education?  Having the ability to understand the language of the agreement between your child and a potential agent, is this important?  Should your child be able to decipher their contract?  Does this “One & Done” scenario true benefit our child?  We have our thoughts in the PCP Network, we would like to hear yours.
