For college sports, winning has its price ..... Former Coach-turned-Lawyer-turned-author explores the corruption behind collegiate sports ........ Cold-blooded murder, drug habits, laundering, extortion and witness tampering. No, this isn’t a laundry list of the mafia’s chosen pastimes. This is a collection of known scandals in collegiate sports. Look at the recent NCAA investigations from USC to UNC and many, many others. Consider the regrettable Baylor University Scandal in 2003, which left one young player murdered and an immoral coach exposed. The Arizona State University point-shaving scheme in the 90s, the 1999 University of Minnesota men’s basketball academic cheating scandal and even the recent Rick Pitino extortion case are perfect examples of an innocent American pastime gone wrong.
