Saul was the first king to rule over Israel. He was given specific instructions to wait on the Prophet Samuel so he could offer a sacrifice before God. Instead of waiting on Samuel, Saul offered up a sacrifice instead. Because of this act of disobedience, Saul was rejected as king.
Abraham was tested to prove whether he was worthy of the great promises to him given by God: that he would bless, multiply, and cause his seed to be numbered as the sand on the seashore and as the stars in the sky. But first, he had to pass the test.
