Join us for a conversation with Tina Marie DeLong, founding member of Decoding Dyslexia Pennsylvania, a grass roots movement driven by PA families concerned with the limited access to educational interventions for dyslexia within our public schools. Decoding Dyslexia PA is an integral part of the Pennsylvania Dyslexia Literacy Coalition (PA DLC), the alliance formed for both grass roots and professional organizations. Joining Tina will be Mary Lawson, of the Chester County Right to Education Task Force.

We'll talk about the need for a universal definition and understanding of “dyslexia” in the state education code, teacher training on dyslexia, its warning signs and appropriate intervention strategies, early screening tests for dyslexia, the importance of remediation programs that can be accessed by both general and special education populations, access to appropriate assistive technologies in the public school setting for students with dyslexia, and much, much more!

PA Independent Living Radio Show is brought to you every Friday at 12:00 pm EST/EDT by The Arc of Luzerne County. Please consider a donation in support of our work to help improve the quality of life for people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and their families.

Thanks for listening!
