I started off as a solo artist/performer in Fredericksburg, Va. After other projects I had been involved with, more as a sideman, I decided to give the solo thing a try. At first I spent years off and on touring the East Coast then eventually was able to do some cross country touring as well, selling my cds at shows and doing grassroots promotion. I was also really fortunate enough to open for national artist like REO Speedwagon, Amos Lee, Pat McGhee, Martin Sexton, Tim Reynolds, etc. After awhile I decided that it was time for a change of direction and went back to school for a short period of time to study film scoring (composing music for film and media) out in Los Angeles. After that I moved back East and started building up a home studio so I could take on film projects. I now compose music for commercials, documentaries, podcasts, industrials etc. That end of things has not reached a point where it’s full time yet so while that’s taking on momentum, I still perform on the side to make ends meet. When I started to put more of my creative energy into composing for film, I thought the songwriter in me had checked out indefinitely. Surprisingly though, there’s been a “song” resurgence in the last year and a half that I’ve fallen in love with. A newfound sense of levity and curiosity has made the process fun again without the pressure of feeling like i have to write a certain way or make another cd, etc. I don’t get to play my original material out often, because most of my performances are bars, parties, etc. where I play covers. I do however maintain a small handful of shows each year at special venues where I can do special performances of just my songs. I also host a Radio Show on 96.7 FM every Sunday from 3p-4p called "Score And Song-Music In Film & Media". It streams live at wera.fm The 11/19 performance at 'Taste By The Bay' at Tides Inn will be mainly background, cover songs.
