Born and raised in Virginia, Liza grew up in the country outside Richmond, and attended the University of Virginia, where she studied Art History. A month before graduating, she lost her younger brother Peter in a car accident and found his guitar later on that summer of 2005. Deciding to move out West, she threw his guitar in the back of her car and drove to Wyoming, and by December she had learned to play and sing, and was performing live in Jackson Hole and Victor, Idaho. Inspired to write her story through song, she applied to Berklee College of Music in Boston, where she attended in 2007, learning music theory, vocal performance and songwriting techniques. She moved back South the following year and spent 4 years in Charlottesville, where she recorded her first bluegrass album titled How Long Must I Wait and the following year a country EP called Mansions in the Sky. Still searching for deeper meaning in life, she applied to seminary in Richmond and studied theology for 4 years, deepening her appreciation for Christianity and all faiths. Liza now lives in Richmond and works at the agricultural co-op Southern States, while playing music as much as she can and sharing the joy of music with every opportunity that presents itself
