What is Wrong with the Church?

As we move through the election cycle this year the radical nature of our mainstream churches is being exposed in harsh detail.  The intolerant, uncompassionate, ideological, and conservative attitudes of church leaders is being paraded proudly, as though being as being cruel, hateful, and uncaring is a badge of honor.  Anyone hoping to live in a country where freedom is embraced, care for the truly needy is a priority, and a focus on love plays a central role better hope Christains don't take power.  But, many who have read the Bible and find the teachings about service, compassion, forgiveness, justice, tolerance, and unconditional love at the core of everything Jesus expressed, to be the life they want, can't understand how the church can act in such a contradictory way.  What they don't realize is that the truth in the Bible, the teachings of Jesus, and the principles of the first church Jesus established have nothing to do with the doctrines and practices of the mainstream Church.  They were determined by a Roman Emperor who wanted nothing more than to erase all traces of biblical doctrine from history.  And, the very existence of the mainstream Church is living proof of the overwhelming success of his mission. Virtually nothing remains of biblical reality, and if Jesus made an appearance in almost any church in the world he would be soundly rebuked and dismissed as a dangerous, liberal socialist.  How this happened and how you can defend against the relentless and unwarranted attacks by Chrisitans is the subject of today's show.  Join Patrick and Barbara for an enlightening discussion.
