SideShow presents Generation MTV: Is commercialism killing real music? The programming on todays “Music TeleVision” is geared towards the ADHD riddled youth. Mindless shows featuring (mostly) drunken buffoons arguing has taken the place of music. First to pacify the older crowd MTV introduced MTV 2, where they promised to keep playing music. This was short lived as they needed more room for mind numbing “entertainment”.

Good radio stations are also being phased out and turned into pop and top 40 stations, where they rotate the same garbage all day. Even if you find a good song in the needle barren haystack it will be overplayed until you are sick of hearing it.

We are living with a generation that has catchier commercials than actual songs. It’s sad when you can remember all the words to a jingle and not remember the name of that great band who played that song you used to love. This is what “they” want. They want you to tune in and tune out. They don’t want you to think, they already do that for you.
