Dr. Yosef Ben-Jochannan a.k.a. Dr. Ben, One of the Last 'People's Scholars' of Harlem, Joins the Ancestors Writer, Scholar, Teacher, World Traveler & Lecturer Yosef Alfredo Antonio ben-Jochannan, also known as Dr. Ben, was an African writer and historian. He was considered to be one of the more prominent African History & Civilization scholars of all time. Born: December 31, 1918, Gondar, Ethiopia and transitioned on to the ancestral realm Thursday (March 19) at approximately 3:30 a.m. Bronx New York City, NY. After being bed-ridden and placed in a specialized care unit at the Bay Park Nursing Home for the past several weeks, those close to him said he had stopped eating and drinking several days earlier, as his metabolism slowly churned down. The legendary Kemetaphysician Dr. Yosef A.A. ben-Jochannan, a.k.a. Dr. Ben, will live forever.
