Haleigh Renée Hoskins is the loving daughter of Linda Marie Hoskins. She was born on May 26, 1996 in San Diego, CA but is a proud native of Peoria, Illinois where she currently resides. Her Midwestern upbringing has influenced a true sense of self and has helped her realize “it is important to know where one has come from in order to know where one is going.” With a strong faith that God only gives you what you can handle she has chosen to focus her education on International Studies with a concentration in Spanish. Haleigh understands that making connections inside the classroom is just as vital as outside classroom. She has served the greater Atlanta community as an intern for the NAACP, member of Golden Key International Honor Society, training coordinator of the Spelman College Student Ambassador Program, a member of the National Council of Negro Women, and has conducted undergraduate research in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She was honored with the 2016 Emma Bowen Award for Volunteerism in New York through her internship with Comcast Corporation Upon graduation, Haleigh will continue her education on to law school where she will focus her efforts on labor and employment; yearning to, one day, assist others in a civil capacity. In addition, she serves as Miss Spelman College 2nd Attendant. She has brought forth her passion for equality and rights through her platform: Si Se Puede (Yes You Can): The Journey Continues and has focused on better understanding bullying and suicide; enabling ways to create a safe space for victims and oppressors on campus and has initiated on-campus awareness. She prays to continue to bring a remnant of light, exuberance, and service to the Spelman College community.
