Beginning on Sun, May 29thon Memorial Day Weekend, The Pinto Stampede(www.pintostampede.com)a 1,600+ mile cross-country to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Ford Pinto, commences from Denver to Carlisle, PA, site of the Ford National Car Show. Its goals are threefold:
Leaving Denver, Pinto drivers will visit Ft. Reilly, KS, for services and take a “victory lap” at Kansas Speedway on Mon, May 30th (Memorial Day). Ford Pintos on the track just days before the STP 400! They will also circle the St. Louis Arch, make a tour of the Brickyard at Indianapolis on Weds, June 1 (just a few days after the Indy 500) and will lead a parade at the Carlisle Ford Nationals – ahead of the T-Birds, Mustangs and Model T’s – in Carlisle, PA on Friday, June 4th. The event is a fun way to celebrate 40th anniversary (parallels to the 1970s Energy Crisis exist today), correct much of the misinformation about the Pinto, and raise money to help Wounded Warriors. Pinto enthusiasts from across the U.S. will participate.
