Who defines a person's success?

Have you ever heard the phrase " he is his own worst enemy?"  Do we look at where we are in life and measure it against someone else, on tv, in a fancy job, or someone we might think " has more than us?"  Jesus said, " if you could gain the whole world, and yet you lost your soul( ended up in hell)... what good would it do you?
