Would more people follow Jesus if he added some works?

Pure belief in Jesus, will get you saved, and believing he will guide your life will help you growth in faith, yet still people say, it can't be this easy.  They got that part right!  It was shameful and painful for Jesus and that why we need to see that he did all the work.
