On Today’s episode of Mixed Race Radio we will introduce you to Melody Menard and Giselle Boone; the founders of Miss Millennium Pageant~ The first pageant for women of Mixed Race, Mixed Culture, and Mixed Heritage. Both Directors identify as half Filipino, half French Canadian and are both former pageant titleholders. Melody and Giselle created Miss Millennium Pageant in order to counterbalance the many biracial or mixed contestants who feel alienated by the pre-existing pageant systems that use a fraction system to identify whether or not someone is eligible to compete.

Join us today to discuss the history of Beauty Pageants and mixed titleholders from the past, including Halle Berry and Vanessa Williams. Learn about positive and negative experiences within the pageant system from real life titleholders as they discuss their hope for change as biracial Americans.
