Remember how in the movie The Gladiator as the gladiators fought to the death in ancient Roman arenas, spectators watched and even salivated with glee? The people were so blood-thirsty that even after “General Maximus Decimus Meridius” (you know, Russell Crowe!) chastised them for their choice of ENTERTAINMENT, the savage masses were still not conscious of their desire for outlandish behavior.
And do you remember how Natalie Wood, in the 1962 movie Gypsy, ENTERTAINED yet other spectators who watched and salivated with glee in yet other arenas? Once again, the masses desired to be titillated and were more than happy to indulge themselves with the talents of one “Gypsy Rose Lee”.
Both of these movies put me in mind of society-at-large today and the things that ENTERTAIN and intrigue us—from politics to religion and everything in between. Join us today at 10:30am CST, on Ministry Along the Way Radio as we look at society’s reaction to current events. Call (347) 637-3604, press the number 1 to talk with us on the air.
