Pet Food Recalls

This episode Michelle Huntting, an insturctor at Kenyon Canine Institute, will be interviewing Kim Matsko. Kim will address the current concerns with the pet food recalls and how a pet owner can help keep their pets safe.

Kim Matsko is an animal nutrition consultant and owner of Natural Pet Essentials in Charlottesville, VA.  Kim’s passion for animals began young. Kim pursued her passion at the University of Illinois, where she received her bachelor’s degree in Animal Science. While at U of I, Kim observed and studied under her professor, Linda Case, who is a well-known animal trainer, nutritionist, and author. Kim’s studies culminated into an internship with the Nestle Purina Product Technology Center, where she did nutrition research.  After school, Kim became an adoption counselor and veterinary assistant at the Norfolk SPCA.  She continued to gain extensive knowledge and experience of Western veterinary medicine as a veterinary assistant at several veterinary clinics in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia.  Kim then relocated to North Carolina, where she managed a local pet health food store, the Cared 4 Canine and Cat.  While managing the store in North Carolina, Kim immersed herself in studying and understanding natural and holistic approaches to pet care and nutrition.  Now, Kim lives in Charlottesville, Virginia where she opened her local, independent small business, Natural Pet Essentials.
