Courtney D. Jones is following in the footsteps of his grandmother, Edith Osburne—an acclaimed Houston educator and black rights activist and his role model. She encouraged him pursue knowledge, which led him to attend Southwestern Christian College (SWCC) in Terrell, TX.
At SWCC he begins a youth program titled “Generation Next “working jointly with the YMCA he began to transform the lives of the youth in his community. In 2011, he became associate minster of the Fifth Ward COC , where he was instrumental in partnering members of the NFL’s Houston Texans to the youth in his organization ,as mentors. One of Courtney’s goals is to ensure that Southwest Louisiana youth see themselves through the lens of God.
