Gary has transformed his life and in doing so he transforming the lives of the children in his Los Angeles community. He began A better LA is launching a new campaign to "Keep Kids Safe" in Los Angeles. Since 2006, homicides have dropped 72% in the target area of West Athens. Outreach workers like Gary Robinson work tirelessly every day to prevent gang violence and to keep our kids safe in the streets, parks and schools.

Manifested from his transformation was a haven for the kids in his community. He started gridiron football and tutors in a park where they were once a source of chaos. He made Peace and football. Not so long ago, the only people you'd find in Helen Keller at night were members of Robinson's former gang, the Raymond Avenue Crips. This was their place to do their dirt. That's why it has been a shock to nearly everyone familiar with the park, even sometimes to Gary himself to see how Helen Keller park has blossomed, a turnaround that happened largely because Robinson took a stab at redemption. Gary freely admits that he was one of the people responsible for bringing pain to South L.A.
