Recently, Karen followed her long-time passion into the theater. In addition to co-writing Part of the Plan, Karen currently serves on the Advisory Boards of two non-profit Los Angeles theater companies: The Veterans’ Center for Performing Arts, and Phoenix Rising Theater Company. She is also running for the Writer's Guild of America, which she served on from 2008-2010.

In 2008, she acquired a distribution deal for McCartney’s Genes, the independent feature film she produced in Austin, TX starring Hamilton Von Watts, Lisa Sheridan, and Ron Livingston (Office Space, Swingers, Sex and the City). She has produced several more short films, as well as begun the financing on a feature film scripted by Emmy Award-winning writer Paul Raley (David Letterman, SNL, Grace Under Fire).
