Thomas G. Waites


Waites was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He studied acting at The Juilliard School in New York City as a member of the Drama Division's Group 7 (1974–1978). He received a B.A. degree in Writing from The New School and an M.F.A. in Playwriting from the University of Iowa.

Since the 1970s, Waites has appeared in over 30 television and film productions. Some of his credits as a television actor include NYPD Blue, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Oz, Law & Order, Law & Order: Criminal Intent and The Jury. In film, he appeared in Unwed Father, State of Grace, ...And Justice for All, Gangland, An American Affair, The Warriors, and John Carpenter's The Thing.

On Broadway, Waites was in Clifford Odets' Awake and Sing! and Howard Korder's Search and Destroy,  and off-Broadway he appeared in David Mamet's American Buffalo among other productions
