Brooklyn New York-native Shameka Beeks, is a Licensed Master Social Worker, with 14 years of experience within the human service field as a program developer, community organizer, and outreach worker.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Administration of Justice from Howard University; a Professional Studies Certificate in Communication from New York University; and a Master of Social Work Degree from Adelphi University.

As a social justice advocate, Shameka understands the importance of educational and social programs, and why people need to be connected to them.

Currently, she is employed at the nation’s largest victim assistance organization as a mental health therapist, specializing in treating PTSD symptoms, depression, anxiety and borderline personality disorder in men, women, and children. She is looking forward to receiving her Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) certification in 2021.

In September 2020, Shameka became a Better Investing member.  She learned about the organization, several years ago, in a book written by Peter Lynch, the former Magellan Fund manager at Fidelity.  Through curiosity, interest, and research her dream of investing in the stock market is now a reality.

Shameka Beeks is a divorced mom, and her daughter is in the fourth grade.  During downtime Shameka enjoys fellowshipping in the parent ministry at her church, taking naps, making soups, and watching throwback movies with her daughter.
