W.H. Knight (Joe), is currently a Distinguished Academic in Residence at Seattle University School of Law. Knight has been actively involved in legal education throughout his career. From 2001 to 2007, he served as Dean of the University of Washington Law School. He also served as Vice Provost of the University of Iowa from 1997 to 2000. Prior to those administrative posts, Knight taught Contracts, Commercial Transactions and Banking Law courses at several schools, including Iowa, Washington University (St. Louis), Chapman and Duke University.

He has also been a board member of the Law School Admissions Council and the Association of American Law Schools. He is an elected member of the American Law Institute.

Knight currently serves as a board member of the AccessLex Institute; is a trustee of the National University System; and, a member of the board of directors of State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company.

Joe earned undergraduate degrees in economics, speech, and political science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he was a National Merit Scholar. He received his law degree from Columbia University in New York. He is married to Susan Mask, also a recovering attorney and business consultant who is now developing her talents as an artist. They are the proud parents of two adult children, Michael a fitness expert and entrepreneur, and Lauren, a marketing and strategy vice president for a NY pharmaceutical consulting firm.
