Guest: James Murphy-O’Connor, MA Oxon) Headmaster, Prior Park College

Subject: A tradition of education and pastoral care moving forward

Prior Park College is a leading Catholic independent co-educational day and boarding secondary school overlooking the World Heritage City of Bath in the United Kingdom.  As Headmaster, James overseas the educational development and pastoral care of some 570 students and leads a team of around 200 staff on a historic estate.

James is also Principal of the 4 Prior Park Schools: The College, The Paragon Junior School in Bath, the Prior Park Prep School in Cricklade, Wiltshire and the soon to be opened Prior Park School Gibraltar (from September 2016).

Now in his 7th year as Headmaster, James has initiated a number of strategic changes across all elements of school life.  His focus is building on the College’s rich heritage (it opened in the 1850s) and succeeding in the delivery of the Prior Park Schools Vision.

Through his programme of change James has managed to bring Prior Park College to the forefront of educational learning in a Catholic environment in England; to maintain its excellent position and to expand the Prior Park Schools into the international market place.
