She almost lost a teen to suicide, and realized how tough it can be for kids to hold onto their self-esteem when faced with bullying.
That's why Betty Hoeffner, a former public relations expert, decided to form Hey U.G.L.Y. - (Unique, Gifted, Loveable YOU).
Its mission is to help not only the bullied, but also the bullies because both are suffering from low self-esteem.
Hoeffner is the author of "Hue-Man Kind - A Book To End Racism" and "Stop Bullying Handbook - A Guide For Students And Their Friends," a step-by-step resource to help youth understand and protect themselves and others from bullying. To date, that book has reached over 2500 students and has millions more to go.
