Dr. John La Puma, MD is co-founder of CHEF MD,  La Puma is co-founder of Chef MD (r),  a health and media company, and founder of Chef Clinic(r)  and author of the Gluten Free Quiz for celiac disease screening.

La Puma is recognized as the first physician to teach cooking and nutrition in a U.S. medical school and has authored over 250 original publications, book chapters, abstracts and books. His research interests include weight control, dietary supplement use, employee wellness and medical ethics. His first book for the general public, written with Dr. Michael Roizen, The RealAge Diet: Make Yourself Younger with What You Eat (April 2001) reached The New York Times Bestseller List. 

La Puma is an advocate for what he calls "culinary medicine"  (the art of cooking integrated with the science of medicine) and its application to 40 common health conditions. He practices medicine, nutrition and writes books in Santa Barbara, California.

His latest book, Refuel: A 24-Day Eating Plan to Shed Fat, Boost Testosterone, and Pump Up Strength and Stamina  looks at exercise and healthy eating as potential alternatives to drugs in treating mens' illnesses such as low testosterone, erectile dysfunction,  and heart disease.
