GOD MADE A UNBREAKABLE COVENANT WITH ABRAHAM

BIBLEBOOKCLUB: OT: Genesis 16:1-18:15, NT: Matthew 6:1-24, Psalm 7:1-17, Proverbs 2:1-5

In today's OT scripture, God made a contract with Abraham when he was 99 years old. God appeared to Abraham and sealed the contract. God changed his name from Abram to Abraham (the Father of Nations) and promised his descendants would have many powerful Kings. God also promised to give a promised land (Canaan) and make him a powerful nation forever. Abraham's part of the contract with God was to make God his God and serve God only! To seal the agreement, God required all men including Abraham, his descendants and servants to be circumcised. God considered it proof that the people would obey God's contract. Then God promised Abraham would have a son. FRIENDS, THE CONTRACT AND CIRCUMCISION IS STILL ENFORCED! WE, CHRISTIANS HEARTS HAVE BEEN CIRCUMCISED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT! HE HAS GIVEN US A NEW HEART! HE REMOVED ALL OUR SIN BY THE BLOOD OF JESUS! THEREFORE, WE CAN COME BOLDLY INTO THE PRESENCE OF GOD BY FAITH! Colossians 2:10-12 (KJV) And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
