Photobucket My guest today is well known to all of us who love the Funk music of the 70's and 80's. He was one of the founding members of the funk group Slave and has been a part of the SOUL music scene for 4 decades. Steve Arrington will always be considered the voice of the band Slave it's it's prime. Steve went on to form his own band, Steve Arrington's Hall of Fame and gave us the hits, Way Out, Weak at the Knees, Nobody can be you, and many more. Steve went solo and with a revelation turned toward a more soulful and spiritual delivery in the mid 80's with Dancing in the key of life but even then still remained true to his 'funk DNA' while becoming a minister and serving up a powerful delivery of a strong positive message with tunes like Homeboy and Teenage Jazz through his music. He put a project out in the 90's and then, poof! Steve took a hiatus from the music scene and as he told me, even from his own music. Well, you and I have a special treat in-store because SA is BACK, and FUNKIER than ever. He has a current project out, a new one in the cue, and has hooked up with some of the new jacks in hiphop/funk underground and they are duin it! If music is to ever be tomorrow what it was yesterday, it will be something old AND something new combining to innovate and Steve Arrington is definitely part of that process. Join me and CELEBRATE the music funk legacy of Steve Arrington on the SOS!
