Howard Schechter has been sharpening since he was 10 years old when his father first taught him how to keep his fur knives sharp for his fur coat making family business. He has expanded his sharpening skills over the years changing along with technology but still retaining that old school, European ethic instilled in him. Today, in his shop in Shrewsbury, MA he sharpens kitchen knives, straight razors, scissors, lawn mower blades and other tools with cutting edges. His business is named The Perfect Edge and that encapsulates his philosophy of sharpening. His reputation is global and he carries only the finest sharpening stones and sharpening supplies from all over the world. His website has a how-to section as well as a Hone Museum with pictures and explanations of sharpening stones and their history ranging from the Romans, the Vikings, and the Samurai to modern day diamond stones.
