In essence people are investing in negative depictions of themselves. Let's exam cultures for moment..do Asians promote or support things that are slanderous to them? Do native Americans listen to music that deteriorates their core?? OK and Africa, does the original tribal music promote death and destruction?? No people have overtime accepted the blindfold.
