The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources held their annual coastal meeting to discuss the State of Our Coast on Monday, May 6, 2019, at the IP Casino Resort Spa in Biloxi, MS. The meeting was a chance to bring together state, federal and local government, along with academia, non-profit organizations and corporate businesses by offering networking, collaborative information and leveraging opportunities to effectively address issues of concern.
The goal for State of Our Coast is to discuss how Mississippi and its partners are progressing into the future through restoration initiatives using regional collaboration and sound science. State of Our Coast focuses on restoration and resilience planning that emphasizes those activities and opportunities across the region, including Mississippi’s three coastal counties. Attendees were updated on the Governor’s Oyster Council Restoration and Resiliency Plan, Red Snapper season and partnership projects with other agencies that enhance and conserve marine interests of the state.
The theme was "Power of Partnerships" Author Latrece Johnson will discuss that concept.
