This week, Poet and aspiring voice actor Marvin Jordan got his BA in Asian American studies with a minor in communications from California State University, Northridge, where his college days also served as a launching pad for his powerful spoken word.

Jordan was a member of CSUN’s Poetry Slam Team for four years. His team won Association of College Unions International (ACUI) twice, and he won the college’s 2013 Student Showcase and was nominated for Best Poem at College Unions Poetry Slam Invitational (CUPSI). He also opened for LA-based DJ Diplo and hip-hop artist Big Sean at CSUN’s Big Show in 2012.

He cites fellow spoken word artist Sean Hill as a big bro and mentor, and it’s especially cool to see him performing on a New York subway.
