Of her poetry styles and influences came from two inspiring poets, the late great Langston Hughes and the late great phenomenal Dr. Maya Angelou. Because they were faced with many trials to where they overcame them; writing positive yet encouraging messages through their poetry. She recalls back in 1995 when her English teacher entered her into a school district wide poetry contest. An array of achievements started in her junior year at DM Therrell High School in 2006 when she did a tribute poem in defining the late Mrs. Coretta Scott King from using her name. Of which this is her first poem that was published into a book for a company called Creative Communication.
