October was formally known as Lupus Awareness month, however in recent years Lupus awareness has been moved to the month of May in an effort to incorporate it with others events and to increase attention and fundraising to support Lupus awareness. Lupus is a chronic, autoimmune disease that can damage any part of the body (skin, joints, and/or organs inside the body). Chronic means that the signs and symptoms tend to last longer than six weeks and often for many years.

In lupus, something goes wrong with your immune system, which is the part of the body that fights off viruses, bacteria, and germs. Lupus is a disease of flares where symptoms worsen and you feel ill or go into remissions where the symptoms improve.

Join Nakikia "MSKeepItMoving" on The Keep It Moving Blog Talk Radio Show with special guests Certified Health and Wellness Coach and T-shirt cut designer, Mattie Copeland and international bestselling author of His Purpose My Praise  and co-creator of Organized Obstacles, Angel Barrino. Listen as they share their experiences living with Lupus and how they fight to stay healthy.
