"Battling Domestic Violence-Pt. 4--Addressing The Abusers"

The most important part of resolving a problem is addressing the most imminent threat in the problem. Domestic violence is a problem with many sub-factors of damage, but the first problem is usually to put out the abuser's fire and get the victims to safety before we can begin the road to healing. Abusers ALWAYS have a story behind their role...they came from an abusive childhood where they either observed or were victims of abuse themselves, they were bullied without support, etc. For African-AMericans, not only are the usual suspects of factors play a part, but many more unique additions to the pool come into play.
