This country was built on the foundation of freedom, religion and equality. Yet, a huge chunk of American history consists of slavery and wars that began because someone violated America's own Constitutional rules and depsite the Civil War "restoring" equality, our news stories are filled with atrocious hate crimes based on prejudices of the old days. Has America's "melting pot" premise been eliminated? Or was it established with conditions from the start? Is it indeed our worst kept secret?
