Choosing the right bird, its accessories and its necessities

There are many things to consider when or before buying a bird. One of the most important considerations is where to buy your bird. Another important consideration is the proper size and safe bird cage. Another important consideration is the right kind of bird food, safe food cups and drinking water cups. I personally recommend stainless steel food and water cups. Yet another consideration is food and water additives to promote and safeguard the health and well being of your bird. Another consideration is how to safely clip your bird's "flight feathers," if you intend to work with your bird outside of its cage. Who and where is the best Avian Veterinarian? There are many licensed veterinarians, but the veterinarian may only have a rudimentary knowledge of birds. This almost seems trite, but how do you or how will you treat your bird, especially if your bird misbehaves? Never, never, never, scream at or hit your bird or throw it into a dark closet. I know that this seems trite, but not too long ago, these types of punishments were the "norm," that is to say, the most common approach to punishment! What about trips to the vet? Does your avian vet subscribe to "holistic" alternatives to prescription medications? Would you like to join a local Bird Club? How do you find and subscribe to popular Bird Magazines which offer important tips on treating, feeding and training your bird? All of these are important considerations, which if followed, will help make your bird your friend!
