Vera B. Cole, 82 year old resident of Mooreland, died Monday, February 21, 2012 in the Kindred Hospital in Oklahoma City. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday February 24, 2012 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel in Woodward with James Bailey officiating. Burial will be in the Mooreland Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.Vera B. (Rettman) Cole was born July 2, 1929 in Wichita County, Texas; she was the daughter of Carl Alford and Gayno Mae (Staley) Rettman. She spent her early years in Burkburnett and Hereford, Texas. Vera attended school in Burkburnett until the tenth grade and then she attended Hereford Texas High School. On March 8, 1948, Vera was married to Troy Leon Cole in Clovis, New Mexico. They made their first home in Hereford and resided in Pampa, Texas, Amarillo, Texas, and Waynoka before moving to Mooreland in 1965.Vera was a homemaker and Food Service worker in Amarillo, Pampa and Woodward. She also managed the Family Finances. She loved going to garage sales and collecting. She was also looking for that great find. Her happiest times were traveling to Jimmy Swigart revivals and traveling across the United States. She had currently made her home in the Mooreland Heritage Manor.Survivors include three sons, John Cole and wife Beverly ; Larry Cole and wife Mary; Price Cole and wife LaPonna all of Woodward; one daughter Patricia Duggins and husband Clay of Mooreland; two brothers, David Rettman of Hereford, Texas; Paul Luther Rettman of San Antonio, Texas; one sister, Lois Turpin of Hereford, Texas; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, twin sister, daughter, Angela Marie Cole and her husband Troy Leon Cole.
