Only a few days until Christmas - yet another opportunity to eat, overeat and feel guilty. Even when we love the holidays, a lot of the joy can be stolen by that nagging little voice that tells us we shouldn't be eating so much. Then there's the "Oh well, I'll start all over again after New Year's Day" approach. The problem with that idea is that we may have put on an additional 5-10 pounds by then. Suddenly, we wake up and realize that we have eaten our way through yet another holiday season. It's frustrating. We're mad at ourselves, and mad at the world. Why does everything have to revolve around eating? Think about it. Whenever we start planning for any event, one of the first things that is mentioned is food. What are we going to serve the guests? Will Sue make her famous Artichoke and Spinach dip? Is anyone going to bring Hanky-Panks? Didn't someone mention a recipe they found for Mexican Fudge they were dying to make? And so it goes. Thanksgiving was only weeks ago, and now there is more turkey and dressing, ham, starchy breads, rich desserts and way too much food in general. What is an overweight person to do?
