It has been 240 years since America became a nation. The United States was once a part of the British Empire as the thirteen colonies, but thanks to General Washington and other brave colonists (e.g., Paul Revere and Benjamin Franklin), it fought against the King's army and declared independence. It impacted world history as it inspired other nations like France to form their own independence movements. Independence Day is commonly associated with fireworks, parades, barbecues, carnivals, fairs, picnics, concerts, baseball games, family reunions, and political speeches and ceremonies, in addition to various other public and private events celebrating the history, government, and traditions of the United States. Tune in to discuss what Independence Day means to you.
