LOS ANGELES, CA –This year marks the 31st year of the Black Doll
Show. Our theme, “The Politics of Imagery: Shaping Thought/Perception”
was chosen by curator and art historian, Miriam Fergerson. The focus
of this year’s exhibit is to showcase dolls within the context of
mainstream popular culture. Highlighting the powerful role dolls have
played to influence, celebrate and often perpetuate standard images of
beauty. This year’s selection of new and retrospective pieces ranging
from miniatures, antiques and modern mixed media will narrate a
historical timeline from contemporary to forgotten scenes within the
 African Diaspora.
