Tune in and join me as I welcome this week's guest.

Author Michael D. McGranahan joins me this week to talk about his novel: Silver Kings & Sons of Bitches and more.

Young financier William Ralston, heartbroken at the death of his fiancée, Louisa Thorn,
moves to San Francisco five years after the gold rush. She, the granddaughter of
Cornelius Vanderbilt, was to help Ralston transform the squalid gold rush town into a
beautiful city. Now, Ralston will build the city on his own, but in her memory. The
Comstock Lode is discovered and Ralston’s quixotic dream appears plausible: he will
funnel its riches into San Francisco. Other men, however, have their own plans for the
prolific silver mines, including Prussian immigrant Adolph Sutro. A decade-long battle
ensues, and the fate of Ralston’s city hangs in the balance.
