The soul and the spirit

The New Testament gives a pretty clear picture of how lusts got started. We read in John 8: 44 You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires (lusts KJV) of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies. This discloses who the originator of lusts is, Satan. Therefore, when we consider the progressive fall in the book of Genesis, by progressive we mean the constantly degrading condition of mankind, we see how the falling away from God was a spiraling effect (it was not a one-time fall).
